These instructions show how to upgrade your MicaSense RedEdge-P Red, RedEdge-P Blue, and RedEdge-P Green to the RedEdge-P Triple.

Warning: This kit is not intended for any other RedEdge models other than the RedEdge-P. Damage will occur if any other RedEdge models are connected.

Firmware update required!

All RedEdge-P Sensors need to be updated to the latest firmware. The system will not operate if the firmware versions do not match. You can find the latest firmware available on the MicaSense Camera Firmware Download Page.

Let's Get Started

1. Disassemble and remove any Cables, Ports and Mounting Brackets from all RedEdge-P Sensors. Leave on all Protective Lens Covers during the installation process.

   

2. Insert a WiFi dongle into all 3 Cameras as seen below. 

3. Place nylon washers on each camera as illustrated below. A total of 12 washers should be installed.

   

4. Apply Loctite 243 to 10 M3x8mm screws, then insert them into the purple holes of the triple mount
   as shown Below. Two holes (highlighted in pink squares) should remain without screws.

5. Begin by screwing the mount onto the BLUE camera, as illustrated below. Pay close attention to the
   orientation of the connector relative to the mount (see purple arrow). Ensure the nylon washers are correctly positioned, then place the mount onto the blue camera.

   

6. Tighten the 4 screws. Note, do not over-tighten as they can easily be stripped. Torque settings 1.1 N·m ± 10%

   

7. Following the same procedure as in the previous steps for the BLUE camera (Steps 5 and 6)—especially ensuring correct placement of the nylon washers—attach the GREEN camera to the opposite end of the mount. Ensure the connector orientation matches that of the BLUE camera. Secure the camera using 4 screws.

   

8. Repeat the same procedure as in Step 7 for the RED camera, positioned at the center of the mount. Note that only two out of four screws are installed at this stage, but all four nylon washers must be correctly positioned. Secure the camera using 2 screws.

   

    

Determine the type of Connector used for your Setup.

At this point, you will need to determine the connector type of your setup that was purchased and follow the instructions below. Either Quick Mount or Skyport. Follow the link to determine your setup.

Quick Mount Assembly

1. Apply Loctite 243 to 2 M3x8mm screws, then insert them into the remaining holes of
   the mount as shown Below. Tighten the 2 screws.

   

2. Apply Loctite 243 to 4 M3x8mm screws, then insert them into the designated holes of the Quick Mount Spacer as shown Below. Position the spacer on the central section of the mount. Tighten the screws

   

3. Place the quick mount on top of the spacer. Ensure correct orientation: the largest connector (highlighted in green) must be on the same side as the camera connectors. Apply Loctite 243 to 2 M3x8mm screws, then insert them together with 2 M3 lock washers into the quick mount. Tighten the screws.

   

4. Attach the wide connector of the cable to the quick mount as shown below.

   

5. Following the color code, connect the cable labeled Power (GREEN) to the PWR connector of the GREEN camera.

   

6. Similarly, connect the cable labeled Auxiliary (GREEN) to the DLS connector of the GREEN camera.

   

7. Repeat the same procedure for the RED and BLUE cameras and their corresponding cables.

   

SkyPort Assembly

Note: The provided Quick Mount Spacer is not needed for this Assembly and will be an extra part.

1. Place the SkyPort mount on top of the mount. Ensure correct orientation: the largest connector (highlighted in green) must be on the same side as the camera connectors. Apply Loctite 243 to 2 M3x14mm screws, then insert them together with 2 M3 lock washers into the SkyPort mount. Tighten the screws.

   

2. Attach the wide connector of the Splitter cable to the SkyPort mount connector located on the bottom.

   

3. Following the color code, connect the cable labeled Power (GREEN) to the PWR connector of the GREEN camera, and the cable labeled Auxiliary (GREEN) to the DLS connector of the GREEN camera.

   

4. Repeat the same procedure for the RED and BLUE cameras and their corresponding cables.

   

5. Attach one of the connectors of the small COMM cable to the top connector of the DJI mount, as shown below.

   

6. Pass the small cable between the Power and Auxiliary cables of the RED camera, as illustrated below.

   

7. Connect the other end of the small cable to the COMM connector of the RED camera.

   

8. Finished result should look like the image below.
