We have found that processing 10-band imagery from the MicaSense Dual Camera System can take a long time with Pix4Dmapper. Also, since the 10-band camera is not in the Pix4D database, the software will not process the images as a rig. Thus, the reflectance maps will not be aligned. The following information will guide you through overcoming these barriers.
**NOTE: An error on the rig translation numbers for Red-650 and Rededge-705 was discovered on 2020-06-17. Please update your rig if you previously used this article**
- We will be using the Pix4Dmapper Rig add-on. If you don’t have this already, you will need to contact Pix4D Support with your license key to enable the add-on.
- Once this add-on is enabled, log out of Pix4Dmapper and then log back in.
- Start a new project.
- You will notice you now have two new options when creating a new project - select New Project with Camera Rigs:
- Add your images from the RedEdge-MX (Red) and RedEdge-MX Blue directories from your Dual Camera flight so that all 10 bands are included. Be sure to select the "Tagged or Multipage Images" radio button:
- On the next page you will be able to define the camera rig. By default the page looks like this:
- For the Dual Camera System with the DJI-style mounting system (most common integration - see example here), use the following parameters - be sure to set the Reference Camera and Processing Mode and give your new camera a name. You may want to switch the Reference Camera to 2 ("Green") after inputting all of the values for better processing:

- Save your rig:
- You will now see your new camera model, with all 10 bands:
- If you go into Processing Options, you will now see options to calibrate each band on the new camera rig:
- At this point you can continue processing with Pix4D as usual.
- This camera will be saved in your Pix4D user database (only in the device/computer where you have made the rig and saved it). Thus, if you process projects from this camera on the same device in the future, the camera will already be saved and you will not need to do the procedure again.
- For future projects, you just need to select "new project" as the project type when you start a project in the software and proceed like any other project in Pix4Dmapper. The rig will be identified and assigned by default.
