The ferrite beads included in your RedEdge-3 kit are meant to reduce electromagnetic interference. You should follow the instructions below to ensure reduced EMI and FCC compliance.
Power Cable
Grab the wire of the 3 pin connector just behind the connector housing
While holding onto the wire and applying a slight force to the wires, use a small flat head screw driver or knife to lift the small fingers on the connector housing. Take care not to break these fingers!
After removing all 3 pins, wrap the cable around the ferrite toroid by inserting the cable through the toroid then wrapping it around the toroid and once more slipping the pins through the center.
NOTE: It is very important the toroid is located as close to the connector housing as possible.
Connect the pins back with the housing by firmly inserting the pins starting with pin 1 (red wire)
GPS/DLS Cable
Grab the wire of the 6 pin connector just behind the connector housing
While holding onto the wire and applying a slight force to the wires, use a small flat head screw driver or knife to lift the small fingers on the connector housing. Take care not to break these fingers!
After removing all 6 pins, wrap the cable around the ferrite toroid by inserting the cable through the toroid then wrapping it around the toroid and once more slipping the pins through the center.
NOTE: It is very important the toroid is located as close to the connector housing as possible.
Connect the pins back with the housing by firmly inserting the pins starting with pin 1 (red wire)
