What does the Sunshine (Irradiance) Sensor on Sequoia do?

If the intensity of the ambient light varies, the amount of reflected light energy from the crops will be altered and the results of the processed data will be distorted. To cope with light variability, Sequoia incorporates a second sensor, known as the Sunshine sensor. This sensor is mounted on the top of the drone, and during the flight it will continuously sense and record the light conditions in the same spectral bands as the multispectral sensor. The inclusion of the Sunshine Sensor with Sequoia allows it to be used in clear as well as overcast conditions, thereby improving flexibility of use.
